About
Hi! I'm Nathaniel. I am a freelance journalist and creator based in Vermont. Before that, I was a policy analyst and attorney. My reporting focuses on state and local-level climate and land-use policy. By digging into the details and translating complicated legal and economic jargon into plain language, I hope to create better-informed public participation in policymaking on the most pressing issues of our time.
My writing has been published in Inside Climate News, Stanford Magazine, Washington City Paper, and Governing.com, among others. I also write Good Govermont, a free subscription newsletter about Vermont climate, land-use, and environmental policy.
With my good friend Elliot Krigel, I created The Mudville Nine, a podcast about baseball literature. My student note from law school, “Carbon Emissions as a Physical Property: Ontological Approaches to the WTO Like Products Debate,” makes a good bookcase shim. I hold Bachelor of Arts (philosophy), JD, and Master in Public Policy degrees.
